About Me

I was born in St Asaph, North Wales. My parents came to live in Melbourne, Australia when I was a young girl. I became a secondary teacher and have only recently given up the rigours of teaching. I retired ! I have always loved Stanley Baker films, so much so that when I was teaching British History to Year 11 students, I took them to see Zulu - a learning curve for them and a special joy for me. Didn't everyone adore Ivor Emmanuel singing? I have managed to accumulate many of Sir Stanley's films but I am always on the lookout for the elusive ones. I am so pleased that there is now a site dedicated to this fabulous actor. Just a bit of trivia. My husband, Simon, who is English, ran into Stanley Baker in a bar at Heathrow. Sir Stanley bought my husband a drink and Simon reciprocated. He said he was a very nice and polite man and incredibly imposing.

I just procured a copy of The Man Who Finally Died" I saw this many years ago and I wasn't disappointed. A great film. I also revisited Innocent Bystanders. I was a fan of the John Craig novels by James Mitchell (AKA James Munroe) and I thought Stanley Baker's interpretation of the Craig character, who had been tortured in the penultimate novel, was great.
